Contact Improvisation meets Tango in Berlin, Intensive Workshops & Jams

Contactango offers a space to develop our own movement through the dance forms of contact improvisation and tango. In a playful dialogue between structure, freedom, fluidity, grounding and levity we will expand our physical awareness and creativity in contact with the others.
It is open to all levels and to anyone curious in widening their movement knowledge.
Particularly the workshop assists:
-tango dancers achieve a joyful physicality through building complicity with their partner and developing their grounding;
-contact improvisation dancers enjoy a deeper connection to their own inner rhythm and imagination through their emotional awareness and its creative forms of expression
Elements of biomecanics, martial arts, physical theatre, bioenergetics and ecological principles will support our newly developed expressivity.
Please bring comfortable clothes, shoes and/or socks. No need to have previous experience neither to come in couples.
Cost:
60€ single day. Both days: 100€ (early bird before 19 September), 110€ after.
Together with October 24-25: 190€

Short Bio:
After 20 years of researching, experimenting and teaching, Argentine-American artist Javier Cura has developed a methodical approach to Movement in general applying it specifically to Physical theatre, martial arts, Contact and or Tango teaching. He has condensed into this system his experience in different fields and art forms ranging from Visual arts, Theatre, Bioenergetics, Somatic Movement and Linguistics.
As a performer, choreographer, artist or teacher you can find him at Contact festivals in Freiburg and San Francisco as well as Fabrik Potsdam Tanztage in Germany, at C.I.R.A in Strasbourg or Alchemie Tango in Prague. He also collaborated on a research about expression in Contact Improvisation at the Berlin Free University.
